About Eduardo & Elizabeth Espiritu

Eduardo and Elizabeth Espiritu are a husband-and-wife chef team who built their careers and their relationship inside professional kitchens. Eduardo was born in the Philippines and developed an early interest in cooking through watching his mother at home. Elizabeth grew up in Palm Springs, California, baking with her aunt from a young age. Both graduated from the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco — one year apart — and eventually found themselves working at the same restaurant in Tiburon, where they met and began building their lives together. The two went on to serve as sous chefs together at Charlie Palmer Steak Napa, earning recognition as one of the culinary industry’s rare genuine partnerships — professional and personal at the same time.

Episode Overview

Andre Natera sits down with Eduardo and Elizabeth Espiritu for one of the most human conversations in the Chef’s PSA catalog. This episode covers what it actually looks like to be married and working in the same professional kitchen — the communication demands, the pressure points, the moments that could break a couple and the ones that bring them closer. They recount a disastrous New Year’s Eve service, the reality of surviving brutal banquet shifts together, and how they’ve learned to separate the heat of service from the life they’re building outside of it. Raw, funny, and deeply honest, this is a conversation about what it costs to love cooking and love someone at the same time.
